This app is at best misleading and at worse dangerous and deceptive. Modern medicine does not empower us to “prevent birth defects.” This app simply has a list of genetic tests that OBs perform. These tests are performed to DETERMINE whether or not a developing fetus will or will not be born with one or more of the listed birth defects, not to PREVENT them. To suggest that an app can provide assistance with preventing birth defects such as Down syndrome or Tays is simply a falsehood. Even putting that aside, this app is full of info that’s either unproven or unsupported. To offer something that provides unsourced assertions of fact about issues for which there’s no current consensus is irresponsible. Avoid this app at all costs.
As a mother of a child with a genetic disorder, this app is bull. There is no way that you can prevent a clearly chance genetic mutation. My son has Down Syndrome. The only way to truly prevent that is not never have children. The most common type happens when either the mother or fathers genetic material doesnt split correctly. The other types of DS are related specifically genetic material in said parent that is screwed up already, not from the reproductive genetic material. So to say you can prevent something with an app is bunk. If that is what you are trying to prevent, dont waste your time, and dont breed. If you are trying to prevent Tay Sachs or some genetic disorder that takes to parents to get, do your research before hand and be informed. Dont use an app. This is not a moment where "they have an app for that" is a good idea
